AGM Minutes Killeen 2014
The AGM of the Killeen Group Water Scheme was held on the 9th of July 2014 in Killeen Community Centre.
Sal O Malley chaired the meeting and said that Austin Francis O Malley sent his apologies because he was unable to attend, Sal also complimented Austin in his absence on the effort he put in whilst he was a County Councillor. Sean Corrigan also echoed Sal O Malleys comments stating that without the efforts of Austin Francis O Malley the scheme would not be where it is today.
Sal spoke of the difficulties that the scheme has encountered over the last 12 months, there were issues at the Lake, the intake, the treatment plant and the distribution network. She thanked Johnnie Mc Greal on his efforts and said with his commitment people would have been without water for prolonged periods.
Sean Corrigan stated that the scheme has done allot of work over the last twelve months, 2.5km of new mains have been put in place, new chlorine, turbidity and flow meters have also been installed. He stated that Austin Francis played a major role in obtaining funding for €100,000 for the scheme this year and again praised his efforts.
John O Toole read the accounts, they were proposed and seconded, he went through the budgets and it was decided that there would be a €200 upgrade charge to be billed the week beginning the 14th July, the current bill is to include an explanation of the charges. The bill after this will be issued in July 2015 and will be based primarily on meter readings.
Sean Corrigan explained to the people in attendance that it was expensive to bill twice a year and he asked there advice, he said that it added approximately €4000 in costs per bill run. It was put to the people in attendance, they were asked should we bill once a year or twice a year, it was proposed and seconded that we should bill only once a year and that people who do not pay should be disconnected as per the rules of the scheme.
Egbert has volunteered his services to update the web site, this is greatly appreciated by the board and the management.
Paul Connolly from the National Federation of Group Water Schemes explained that Irish Water has no authority in the running of group water schemes, and that Killeen GWS will not be affected by the new Irish Water entity.
Paul also went on to explain that there are two strands to the grant, one of which deals with the treatment plant, the other with the network. The National Federation of Group Water Schemes are doing all that they can to keep these grants.
Paul thanked the Board for all of their hard work and complimented them on their achievements
